BTOB’s Lim Hyunsik will light up the stage of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival.

The music video for Lim Hyunsik’s digital single “My Answer,” released on July 22, won a Special Award in the JIMFF Special Choice – Music Video Awards at the 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, which will be held from September 4 to 9 in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.

Founded in 2005, the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival is the largest music film festival in Asia. It has pioneered the popularization and development of the music film genre by introducing outstanding music films from around the world. This year, the festival newly established the “JIMFF Special Choice – Music Video Awards” to highlight the artistic potential of the music video genre.

“My Answer” is a song that honestly and sincerely expresses a wide range of emotions conveyed through the eyes of a lover, from excitement and happiness to the creeping worries and anxieties that follow. The music video, which featured Lim Hyunsik himself, portrays a man left alone in ruins, recalling his past moments with a loved one, and calmly accepting his reality. Through its artistic and emotive direction, the music video resonates deeply with global fans and draws an enthusiastic response.

Previously, the making-of video for the music video “La Mar (The Lonely Sea)” from Lim Hyunsik’s second mini album “The Young Man and the Deep Sea” garnered significant attention last year after being selected for the Korean Feature Film Competition section at the 20th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival. Lim Hyunsik also graced the stage with his performance at the 2025 International Ocean Film Festival this past June.

Following his previous work, Lim Hyunsik will be joining the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second consecutive year with his self-composed song “My Answer.” He will attend the “Music Video Awards” event on September 5, where he will deliver a special live performance. He will also take part in a GV (Guest Visit: conversation with the audience) to personally introduce the music video and engage in close interaction with viewers.

The following is a Q&A with Lim Hyunsik regarding his Special Award at the 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival’s “Music Video Awards.”

Q. How do you feel about attending the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second consecutive year?
A. As someone who loves music, video, and film, I’m truly honored to attend the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second year in a row. I hope to continue building this wonderful relationship going forward.

Q. You won the Special Award at the newly established “Music Video Awards” category. How did you feel when you heard the news?
A. I think it’s a wonderful development that the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has launched the “Music Video Awards” category, it’s very fitting for the festival. I’m sincerely honored and grateful to receive such a prestigious award so soon after its inception.

Q. Could you please introduce the music video for “My Answer”?
A. The video tells the story of a lonely man, alone in a gray wasteland, facing the beautiful moments shared with a loved one through a door, but eventually closing the door, and bringing an end to the cycle of time.

Q. You worked again with Director Kwon Jinmo following your previous project “La Mar (The Lonely Sea).” What kind of conversations did you have during this collaboration?
A. We both agreed that expressing emotions through the eyes would be especially important for this project.

Q. You’re about to meet the audience through a GV (Guest Visit) session. How are you preparing for it?
A. Since this is a GV for a music video, I think the atmosphere will definitely be different from past events. I feel like it’ll be a unique experience, and I’m excited to meet my fans again after a while.

Q. What emotions were you hoping to convey through the music video? Were there any aspects or particular challenges you focused on while acting?
A. I wanted to express both the joy of beautiful love and the contrasting feelings of worry and anxiety through my eyes. I tried hard to focus and control my emotions, but it was so difficult. I even jokingly thought to myself, “If my eyes were a bit bigger, it might have been easier to express this.”

Q. Was there any special episode or memorable moment during the filming of the music video?
A. I was completely soaked during the filming of “La Mar (The Lonely Sea)” music video. But this time, there was a scene where I got my feet a little wet in an old swimming pool, and I found that moment kind of cute. Also, the indoor studio we filmed in was the same place where I shot the music video for my first solo song SWIMMING, so starting the shoot there felt especially meaningful.

Q. Your delicate, emotionally expressive eye acting in the music video has received an enthusiastic response from global fans. Do you have any plans to take on more serious acting roles in a drama?
A. For now, my top priority is to continue growing musically. But I really love films, so if the opportunity arises, I’d definitely like to try it someday.

Q. Starting with activities as BTOB, the “group you can trust and listen to,” then becoming an “all-round singer-songwriter,” and now showing dazzling work as an actor, are there any new fields you would like to challenge yourself in the future?
A. Now that I’ve even earned the title of filmmaker, I definitely love to take on film scoring someday. Although I still have a long way to go, I want to keep growing steadily and one day express stories through music in films.

Q. Please give a message for those who have shown love for “My Answer” and its music video.
A. I sincerely thank you for loving it even more deeply than I expected. I promise to return that love with even better music and videos. Please keep supporting me!
