BTOB’s Lim Hyunsik will light up the stage of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival.

The music video for Lim Hyunsik’s digital single “My Answer,” released on July 22, won a Special Award in the JIMFF Special Choice – Music Video Awards at the 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, which will be held from September 4 to 9 in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.

Founded in 2005, the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival is the largest music film festival in Asia. It has pioneered the popularization and development of the music film genre by introducing outstanding music films from around the world. This year, the festival newly established the “JIMFF Special Choice – Music Video Awards” to highlight the artistic potential of the music video genre.

“My Answer” is a song that honestly and sincerely expresses a wide range of emotions conveyed through the eyes of a lover, from excitement and happiness to the creeping worries and anxieties that follow. The music video, which featured Lim Hyunsik himself, portrays a man left alone in ruins, recalling his past moments with a loved one, and calmly accepting his reality. Through its artistic and emotive direction, the music video resonates deeply with global fans and draws an enthusiastic response.

Previously, the making-of video for the music video “La Mar (The Lonely Sea)” from Lim Hyunsik’s second mini album “The Young Man and the Deep Sea” garnered significant attention last year after being selected for the Korean Feature Film Competition section at the 20th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival. Lim Hyunsik also graced the stage with his performance at the 2025 International Ocean Film Festival this past June.

Following his previous work, Lim Hyunsik will be joining the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second consecutive year with his self-composed song “My Answer.” He will attend the “Music Video Awards” event on September 5, where he will deliver a special live performance. He will also take part in a GV (Guest Visit: conversation with the audience) to personally introduce the music video and engage in close interaction with viewers.

The following is a Q&A with Lim Hyunsik regarding his Special Award at the 21st Jecheon International Music & Film Festival’s “Music Video Awards.”

Q. How do you feel about attending the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second consecutive year?
A. As someone who loves music, video, and film, I’m truly honored to attend the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival for the second year in a row. I hope to continue building this wonderful relationship going forward.

Q. You won the Special Award at the newly established “Music Video Awards” category. How did you feel when you heard the news?
A. I think it’s a wonderful development that the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has launched the “Music Video Awards” category, it’s very fitting for the festival. I’m sincerely honored and grateful to receive such a prestigious award so soon after its inception.

Q. Could you please introduce the music video for “My Answer”?
A. The video tells the story of a lonely man, alone in a gray wasteland, facing the beautiful moments shared with a loved one through a door, but eventually closing the door, and bringing an end to the cycle of time.

Q. You worked again with Director Kwon Jinmo following your previous project “La Mar (The Lonely Sea).” What kind of conversations did you have during this collaboration?
A. We both agreed that expressing emotions through the eyes would be especially important for this project.

Q. You’re about to meet the audience through a GV (Guest Visit) session. How are you preparing for it?
A. Since this is a GV for a music video, I think the atmosphere will definitely be different from past events. I feel like it’ll be a unique experience, and I’m excited to meet my fans again after a while.

Q. What emotions were you hoping to convey through the music video? Were there any aspects or particular challenges you focused on while acting?
A. I wanted to express both the joy of beautiful love and the contrasting feelings of worry and anxiety through my eyes. I tried hard to focus and control my emotions, but it was so difficult. I even jokingly thought to myself, “If my eyes were a bit bigger, it might have been easier to express this.”

Q. Was there any special episode or memorable moment during the filming of the music video?
A. I was completely soaked during the filming of “La Mar (The Lonely Sea)” music video. But this time, there was a scene where I got my feet a little wet in an old swimming pool, and I found that moment kind of cute. Also, the indoor studio we filmed in was the same place where I shot the music video for my first solo song SWIMMING, so starting the shoot there felt especially meaningful.

Q. Your delicate, emotionally expressive eye acting in the music video has received an enthusiastic response from global fans. Do you have any plans to take on more serious acting roles in a drama?
A. For now, my top priority is to continue growing musically. But I really love films, so if the opportunity arises, I’d definitely like to try it someday.

Q. Starting with activities as BTOB, the “group you can trust and listen to,” then becoming an “all-round singer-songwriter,” and now showing dazzling work as an actor, are there any new fields you would like to challenge yourself in the future?
A. Now that I’ve even earned the title of filmmaker, I definitely love to take on film scoring someday. Although I still have a long way to go, I want to keep growing steadily and one day express stories through music in films.

Q. Please give a message for those who have shown love for “My Answer” and its music video.
A. I sincerely thank you for loving it even more deeply than I expected. I promise to return that love with even better music and videos. Please keep supporting me!

< “The motif of this album is the exhibition. Because it contains a side of me that I have not been able to show or tell until now, it contains the meaning of asking you to look at it more closely.” Yook Sungjae. >

< “I often think, ‘Let’s not be comfortable’. They say that the obstacle of comfort is more dangerous than the obstacle of failure in human development. So I don’t want to stay still for a moment. Whatever I do, I think it’ll be a beneficial experience for me.”Yook Sungjae. >

[Lee Minhyuk] Interview (News1 ②) – Lee Minhyuk who is into “Bulk Up”…”Secret to maintaining abs?” “MBTI?”

< “Actually, I don’t usually talk. It’s like ‘I can do it’, this is the word you spit out when you’re having a hard time. And I seem to say things like, ‘Let’s go, we can do it, let’s go, let’s go’. When we have schedule, we talk like that so that all the staff can hear it, but it’s kind of like our own order. Right before I faint, I say, ‘Let’s go, let’s go’.”Lee Minhyuk. >

[Lee Changsub] Interview – THEATRE plus May 2022 Issue “MATA HARI”

< “One past performance never comes back. The acting I did today will never be the same the next day. I can’t copy it a hundred percent. I really like that fact, and how can I put it. The experience of living for two and a half to three hours in my role is something that no one can do, but now I can feel it a little. There is a charm in an unforgettable memory that the characters in the work lived for a while. It feel like you crossed a stepping stone. If I make a mistake, I have to fix it, and I can’t let go of the tension because I can’t change it, so it’s a charm now. I’m grateful. Whether it’s musical or music, I feel alive when I’m on stage.”Lee Changsub. >

[Lee Minhyuk] Interview – BEAUTY+ April 2022 Issue

< “BTOB’s image is still well made, but I think we need to show something new to become a group that lasts for decades. And the music that I like and pursue is completely different from the music that people think of when they think of BTOB.” – Lee Minhyuk. >
< “We don’t know when life will end, but why do we have to bite each other and struggle in such a short life? If you are always grateful for everything and happy with small things, won’t you be able to leave without regret when you die later? It’s a song that came out with that kind of thought (‘Thank You’). It was an opportunity for me to strengthen my belief. ‘All the hardships are for me, and it’s an opportunity to make me stronger’. I think it’s good to be positive and thankful.” – Lee Minhyuk. >

[Lee Minhyuk] Interview (My Daily ②) – Lee Minhyuk’s Challenge #Ramdi and Dotori #Men’s Health

< “The reason I did it this time is because I took a 7-8 month break from exercising. I had a disc problem, so I couldn’t exercise at the hospital, so I took a break. But in the meantime, my body was very damaged. I lost all my muscles and gained weight. So, at the beginning of this year, I decided to take care of myself again, I said that I could exercise and be healthy.”Lee Minhyuk. >

[Yook Sungjae] Interview – Military Manpower Administration 2020 Winter Vol. 97 e-book

< “I think the most important thing in my military life is my relationship with my colleagues. Although group life was familiar because I was in group activities, the military is a small society because it is a place where various people gather from all over the country. Because of this, I was able to learn the interpersonal relationships, teamwork, and comradeship that are formed in them.”Yook Sungjae. >

[BTOB 4U] Interview – BEAUTY+ July 2021 Issue “BTOB YES, I AM”

< “I could go on a stable journey with our long-term fans, but there was a sense of anxiety about whether we could become a long-lasting team. Personally, it was difficult to be active in the rapper position, but when I challenged ‘Kingdom’, I thought it would be an opportunity to let people know that ‘BTOB is good at everything’ and ‘there are members like this’. So I tried hard to persuade them.” – Lee Minhyuk. >
< “I said I wouldn’t do it even if I die. I thought I had nothing to gain and only had something to lose. Until the end, I was the only who said ‘I don’t want to do this’. At first, I guess I didn’t have a strong motivation to do it well. However, as the episodes went on, I realized that I was wrong. Instead of losing things, we gained a lot, so I was startled and got nervous during the final stage.” – Lee Changsub. >
